The Jewish-Arab Center for Peace was established at the Kibbutz Artzi Federation’s Givat Haviva Seminar in 1963, in order to bring Jews and Arabs in Israel closer and to educate for mutual understanding and partnership between the two peoples. The Center utilizes a variety of working methods, all of which give space to critical perspectives in an effort to renew the existing reality via cooperation of all citizens.
The Center values humanism and equality of all peoples. It therefore strives to be a key element towards achieving true democracy in Israel, characterized by civil equality between Jewish and Palestinian Israeli citizens. Through the encouragement of social and cultural pluralism, the Center believes regional peace and reconciliation can be achieved. The Center provides space for development of creative working models that promote its social and educational goals. Programs take the form of formal meetings, dialogue groups, inter-organizational partnerships, educational curricula, and research.
The Jewish-Arab Center for Peace at Givat Haviva has a staff of 20 individuals, Arab and Jewish, who annually serve more than 15,000 students, teachers, community professionals and laypersons.
