Intensive Course in Arabic: July 2009
Always wanted to learn Arabic?
The Institute for Arabic Studies at Givat Haviva is holding an intensive course for study of the Arabic language. The course trains its graduates in all the aspects of the language – reading and writing literary Arabic, listening to the media, speaking Arabic and acquaintance with Islam and the Middle East.
The course will take place in the month of July between 1:00 and 8:00 p.m.
Opening date: Sunday, July 5, 2009, 1:00 p.m.
Last date: Thursday, July 30, 2009, 8:00 p.m.
Course curriculum:
Literary Arabic, spoken Arabic, Arabic in the media, Middle East and Islam; total 40 hours per week. During the course the students will participate in visits to Arab villages in the vicinity.
Course structure:
5 days per week, 8 hours of study per day, from 1:00 to 8:00 p.m.
No prior knowledge of Arabic is necessary.
Language of instruction: Hebrew.
Course price: NIS 4,800
Note: Course opening is dependent upon a minimum registration of students

The course will take place in the months of May-June between 3:30 and 7:00 p.m.
Opening date: Monday, May 4, 2009, 3:30 p.m.
Last date: Monday, June 29, 2009, 7:00 p.m.
During the course the students will participate in visits to Arab villages in the vicinity.
Course structure:
3 days per week, Mon. Tues. Thur. 4 hours of study per day, from 3:30 to 7:00 p.m.

Intensive Course in Arabic
|
The Institute for Arabic Studies at Givat Haviva offers an intensive course for the study of the Arabic language. This course trains its graduates in the fields of writing, reading, listening to the media, speaking Arabic, and study of Islam and the Middle East.
The course is held during the months of October-March with dormitory facilities.
Opening date: Sunday, October 26, 2008 at 09:00.
Last date: March 5.
Course Curriculum:
20 weekly hours of literary Arabic, 12 hours of spoken Arabic, 6 hours of Arabic in the media, 4 hours of Middle Eastern studies and Islam. Total 42 weekly hours.
In addition, individual tutoring and exercises during the evening hours.
Speaking workshops led by Arab facilitators, study tours and meetings in local villages.
Structure of the Course:
5 days per week, 8 hours of study per day. Two additional hours of group and individual tutoring after study hours. Admission to the course is not dependent upon prior knowledge of Arabic.
In the framework of the course students may sit for the Bagrut (Matriculation) examination at the level of 4-5 study units.
Cost of the course is NIS 23,000 including dormitories.( Sun. - Thur.)
NIS 16,600 not including dormitories.

“Beginners” and “Advanced” Course in Arabic – Weekly Year Course
|
Purpose of the course: Teaching basic knowledge to hold a conversation in spoken Arabic, acquaintance with the written language, reading texts, reading a newspaper, listening to the media.
Course program: 2 weekly hours of literary Arabic (9:00-11:00), 4 weekly study hours of spoken Arabic (11:00-15:00).
Including 2 study tours and meetings in local villages.
Course duration:
First year, “Arabic for Beginners” – 200 hours
Second year, “Advanced Arabic” – 200 hours
Third year, “Arabic Stage 3” – 200 hours
Dates:
Every Tuesday, 09:00-15:00
Opening Date: Tuesday, October 28, 2008.
Courses are recognized for in-service training credit: for students who are not education workers and for teachers in an individual track (with no grade).
Price of the course: NIS 5,000.
Price of kosher luncheon at Givat Haviva restaurant: NIS 25. There is also a snack bar available for those interested.

Arabic for Beginners and Advanced – Evening Courses

Evening courses in Arabic at the Institute for Arabic Studies at Givat Haviva.
Purpose of the course: Study of spoken Arabic, in the local vernacular, to the level of holding a conversation.
Duration of the course: 100 hours, 31sessions, October - June.
Including 2 study tours and meetings in local villages.
Course hours: Every Tuesday, 19:00-21:30
Opening date: Tuesday, October 28, 2008
Course Venue: Institute for Arabic Studies Classroom at Givat Haviva.
Price of the course: NIS 3,000.
Registration: In order to reserve your place in the course, send registration fee of
NIS 100. This sum will be counted towards full payment for the course.
