Crossing Borders
Update June 2006
1. After a somewhat cool period we are returning to activity on the subject of joint meeting, dialogue and writing between Jordanians, Palestinians and Jews and Arabs from Israel, as well as having Germans and Danes joining a Capacity Building Seminar in Denmark to be held in August.

This is an encounter meant to bring together Jewish and Arab university students from Israel, Jordanians, Palestinians, Danes and Germans. A dialogue encounter, joint writing and thinking on the Jewish-Palestinian conflict and how it is reflected, also in societies outside of the conflict. This is a seminar on the subject of capacity building of frameworks which raise the need for understanding and acquaintance with the conflict in order to arrive at a solution.

The candidates are ages 20-25, university students who speak English and can also express themselves in written English. A symbolic participation fee of € 150 including flight, full board and study tours, lectures and a meeting with the media in Denmark will be charged to each student.

At this stage we are inviting university students aged 20-25 in the fields of communications, international relations and social studies to contact Olga Paz, Coordinator of the Israeli Jewish sector in the project, to submit their candidacy for the seminar in Denmark to be held from August 14th-24th. 2. Funds were received for the Crossing Borders teachers' project from the Anna Lee Foundation, Euro Med for two years. A process workshop for two groups of teachers in the subject of presentation of the Jewish-Arab conflict as a stimulus to development of expertise in discussion, dialogue and critical thinking. Each group will meet and work over the course of one year with Jordanian Palestinian, Danish, Finnish and Israeli Jewish and Arab colleagues. Together they will examine methods and models for integration of the implementation of the program and the encounter in their classrooms.
